DogBasics Puppy Socialisation
Playtime for puppies!
The focus of the Puppy socialisation sessions is to let
your puppy socialise and play, so the time will
be spent with your puppy off lead, playing with the
other puppies. During these socialisation sessions
I will answer any questions you have about your puppy.
There is only one exercise you will be shown in
the puppy socialisation sessions and that is how
to protect your puppy. It is vital
to make sure your puppy doesn't have any bad experiences
with other dogs, children, other animals or inanimate
objects. We want to give the puppies as many good
experiences as possible, so that when they do come
across a bad experience, their good experiences will out
number the bad one.
Learn about dog training / behaviour BEFORE
you get your puppy!
Be pro-active and start your lessons before you've
even collected your puppy, or while your puppy
is not yet fully vaccinated. You can take the First Aid and Dog Language lessons before you even get your puppy OR before
your puppy is fully vaccinated. The information
you get in these lessons will help you create a
solid and trusting relationship with your puppy,
as you are preparing him to meet the world. Please
read our article about
puppies.
How do I book my puppy in for the socialisation sessions?
In order to join the puppy socialisation sessions,
you must sign up and pay for the Introduction
Course.
How old are the puppies in the lessons?
The puppies are welcome from the day that they
are allowed out, after having finished their
vaccinations.
We don't really have a lid on the max age of the puppies that come to the socialisation sessions, but we do divide the puppies up in different groups, depending on their confidence. Generally the puppies over 4 months go to the Medium socialisation sessions and the puppies under 4 months go to the Small Breed socialisation sessions, but there are exceptions.
When are the lessons?
The puppy socialisation sessions are 30
minutes long each and you will find the dates and
times for these session in the date list on the Introduction
Course page. You choose how many and which sessions
you want to attend. This gives you more freedom,
so you can choose how much you want to socialise
your puppy.
Small
groups
Our courses are always held with small groups,
so you can expect a maximum of 8 puppies in the
socialisation sessions, ensuring the dog trainer has time to focus
on and help each team (dog and dog owner) individually.
How much does it cost?
The socialisation sessions are free
of charge as long as you have booked and
paid for your Introduction Course.
You can only sign up for the puppy socialisation sessions once you
have booked in for the Introduction
Course.
Where are the lessons held?
The puppy socialsation sessions will be held at our house; 2
Claypit Cottages, Luton Whitehill, Offley, Herts,
SG5 3DN, click
here here for a map. Offley is a village located
between Luton and Hitchin, near Lilley, Charlton
and Cockernhoe. We are near the boarder of Bedfordshire.
Puppy Training
To take your puppy to training classes, you need
to book onto the Introduction
Course first, after which you'll be given a
list of lessons you can choose between. You will
also be shown all of the basics you'll need, in
the Introduction Course. Exercises such as recall,
sit, down, stay, walking on lead without pulling,
contact exercises, not jumping up and leave.
