About our Dog Day Care

The DogBasics Day Care is set in the stunning surroundings of Great Offley, Hertfordshire, UK .

While you are at work, we can provide a safe haven for your dog until you come home. Your dog will be thoroughly pampered and have exciting days of activation and long walks, leaving him tired and relaxed at the end of the day.

In DogBasics care your dog will be guaranteed:

* No kennels
(the dogs stay in the house with me)

* Home environment
(with a garden)

* Lots of one to one attention
(max 6 dogs in the house at any one time)

* between 2-3 hours walking/day
(in fields and woodlands)

* Relaxation
(the dogs will need their rest after all the work!)

(you supply the food)

About our Dog Day Care (creche)

Avoid those disappointing moments when you come home from work only to find that your dog has chewed up half the house or to hear the neighbour complaining that your dog has been barking all day long. Now you can bring your dog to our daily dog crèche instead, for days full of activities and play.

The DogBasics Dog Day Care is open Monday - Friday, 6.00am to 7.00pm.

We can deal with dogs with separation anxiety and boredome chewers. There is someone with the dogs in the house at all times. The dogs are walked between 2-3 hours, generally off lead, so they will be nice and tired when you pick them up.

Prices 2011

If you are leaving your dog for 1-5 hours, your charge is £10
If you are leaving your dog for 5-10 hours, your charge is £15
If you are leaving your dog for 10-12 hours, your charge is £18
If you are leaving your dog for 12-24 hours, your charge is £23

If your dog stays for longer than 12 hours, you will be charged at the full boarding rate of £23/dog/day.

If you drop your dog off before 6.30am or pick up after 6.30pm, you will be charged an extra £2/dog/day.

Discounts: If you book your dog in for a minimum of 14 days in a row, you get 10% discount off the full invoice. If you book your dog in for a minimum of 28 days in a row, you get 15% discount off the full invoice.

Holiday prices: all bank holidays and 24 December are charged at double price, including the discount prices.

How to book

Bookings are made via email. Once we have agreed on days and dates, you will be invoiced on a montly basis, in advance. Once we have received payment for the invoice, your booking is secure.

How many dogs do we take in per day?

We won't take on more than 5 dogs (day care 2-3 dogs/day and boarding usually 0-2 dogs/day) per day, so including our own dog, that is a max total of 6 dogs per day. Your dog will get plenty of one 2 one attention.

How young/old can my dog be?

Our regular crowd is between 4 - 10 years, but we will take on puppies and dogs of any age.

What size of dogs do we accept?

Due to caring for mainly larger breed dogs, your dog should be of Labrador size.

Will we care for any breed?

We will NOT take in small breeds as we mainly have Labrador sized dogs staying here.

There are unfortunately also a few breeds that don't work out very well in our home, not due to size, but because our own dog has had some bad experiences with them and therefore won't be very nice to them. For example Boxer, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweiler and Dobermann dogs. Cross breeds crossed with any of the breeds above are worth trying with, as one of Toby's favourite friends is a Boxer cross, but he's got a long nose, full tail and his body posture isn't as pronounced as the Boxers.

Can DogBasics help with pick up and delivery?

Not usually, but there are exeptions. Please ask, if this is a service you require.

Give your dog that little extra...

We offer a few extras for your dog. We can cut your dogs claws for you, free of charge, as long as your dog doesn't have any major issues with his claws/paws. If your dog DOES have issues with his claws/paws, we would be happy to show you how to rehabilitate them. We can also give your dog a shampoo at an extra cost of £5.
